A event on "Support for Farmers and Public-Private Sector Collaboration" was held, discussing the development of agriculture, goals in this field, government support initiatives, collaboration between the private sector and farmers, production of competitive agricultural products, and issues related to market access.
The event, organized in partnership with the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) and Veysəloğlu Companies Group, saw the participation of representatives from government institutions, 150 farmers, and representatives of companies and financial institutions operating in the agricultural sector.
During the event, the Minister of Agriculture, Məcnun Məmmədov, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA), Orxan Məmmədov, the founder of Veysəloğlu Companies Group, Aydın Talıbov, and the Executive Director of the Companies Group, Burak Dəniz, provided information on the development of agriculture, goals in this field, government support measures and incentives, as well as collaboration between the private sector and farmers. The speeches also touched on the production of competitive agricultural products, the factors essential for it, market access, and the role of the private sector in these matters.
During the presentation of Veysəloğlu Companies Group's "From Field to Shelf" strategy, it was noted that as a result of the initiative, where products are brought directly from the field to store shelves, the number of collaborating farmers has reached 190. The Companies Group, between January and November of 2023, purchased nearly 50 thousand tons of agricultural products from farmers and sold them in the "Araz" and "OBA" network of stores.
In the context of the event, a panel on "Public-Private Sector Collaboration" addressed topics such as stimulating the production of agricultural products, ensuring consumers are supplied with quality and reasonably priced local products, reducing dependence on imports to increase the continuity of the supply chain, and supporting the development of micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurship. Farmers' suggestions were also heard during the panel.
Additionally, farmers shared their experiences of collaborating with the private sector at the event. They highlighted that, thanks to the "cold chain" established by the Companies Group, there is no need for them to spend time and money coming to Baku to sell their products. Instead, their products are delivered to the company's regional warehouses, ensuring successful sales.
As part of the event, 13 small farmers were provided with equipment and tools for the production of agricultural products.
